It is located on the outskirts of the Biscayan township of Elorrio
Description and History:
Argiñeta necropolis (place of stonecutters), is one of the
most important funerary monuments of Euskadi both the number and
quality of its elements as remote chronology of some of them (VII-IX
centuries).
This necropolis is composed of twenty-five graves stelae.
Were built in the early Middle Ages for use in the
necropolis of the different neighborhoods of the environment (Mendraka,
Miota, Berrio) but were regrouped in the current location in the XIX
century.
Both tombs and Funerary stelae were made with sandstone from the
quarries of 'Oiz'.
