Ubicación:
It is located on the outskirts of Muruzábal in Navarra and is part of 'Camino de Santiago' (The Way of Saint James).
Description and History:
Polygonal arches surrounding the origin of its name, since
'Eunate' means 'hundred gates' in Basque language.
The church of St. Mary of Eunate was built during the second half of
the XII century, around 1170, coinciding with a boom construction that
occurred in urban and rural areas of Navarre, and especially in the
most close to the Camino de Santiago areas.
At that time, interest in pilgrimage to 'Santiago de Compostela'
experienced a significant increase in the Christian world and immediate
result was the construction of various buildings to equip them with the
necessary infrastructure.
